Firestorm takes his turn at monitor duty only to have it interrupted by the Martian manhunter who attacks him in order to reclaim an Appellax meteor before finding his comrades. With the emergency signal activated after Firestorm recovers, the rest of the League arrive except the original members. Green Arrow tells the others of the League's first case and their encounter with the Appellaxians and figures out that the original members are after the buried meteors. One by one, the original members of the League track down the hidden meteors and while the newer members attempt to stop them, they are all vanquished by their friends. Eventually, the original members take the meteors to their first hideout in Happy Harbour and, as the compulsion to find and collect the meteors wear off, they begin to question their actions. Too late, though, as the meteors hatch into the original Appellaxians who quickly overcome the League. Discovered by the other members, the whole League track down the aliens who are continuing their battle to decide who will lead the Appellaxians and one by one they are defeated. The remains of the aliens are sent into the Sun in the hopes of finally destroying them. Before leaving, Green Arrow has a change of heart and decides to rejoin the League.
