The League are attacked by the Homo-Magi who hold Zatanna's mother - Sindella - in a trance like state so that she will sacrifice herself and allow Zatanna to take her place. As the League battle, Zatanna manages to break Sindella's trance and release her mind. Knowing that it is through her own powers that the League's enemies are empowered, she sacrifices herself not for the Homo-Magi but for her daughter and her friends.
