Answering a letter to the League that is two years out of date, the Flash finds Professor Zagarian on a deserted island, unconcerned by the threat that he originally wrote to the League about. He had created the Shaggy Man and was initially worried that it would destroy the world; however he managed to capture it. The Flash's arrival unfortunately freed the creature from its prison and the League are called in to try and capture it once more.Other members of the League, meanwhile, answer another letter which takes them to South America where another scientist has discovered an alien life form that is impervious to harm. The alien is brought to Zagarian's island and the pair battle while, with the Professor's help, another Shaggy Man is created.A huge pit is excavated and both Shaggy Men and the alien are placed within to battle each other forever.
