Batman conducts routine maintenance on the exterior of the JLA satllite when he accidentally short circuits the power conduit, causing a power surge that blows panels off the side of the satellite. Aboard, Hawkman reacts to the fast escaping air by using the JLA emergency signal. On Earth, various members react to the signal and teleport aboard the satellite and help Hawkman seal the air in; by the time they succeed, Batman has floated away from the satellite and lost to radar. Following his trail in a shuttle craft, the League discovers a huge space craft and manage to board it after overcoming its automatic defenses. Finding a medical droid they discover the ship has been in orbit around earth for 200,000 years awaiting the return of its sole crew member. Instead, it found Batman and, thinking him the crew member, experimented upon him to alter his appearance to that of the crew. It has also sent him mad, prompting him to attack his friends. Defeating Batman, the League reprogram the ship and restore his appearance and health while the alien ship - after Hawkman discovers it has been orbiting the wrong planet for 200,000 years - leaves to find its crew member.
