When checking out a museum crime, Bruce Wayne is reminded of an adventure he had duing World War II, in which he investigated the smuggling of Nazi nerve gas into allied territory using the alias Jack Pimpernel. While there, he assisted (and was assisted by) Sgt. Rock and Easy company, who were assigned to blow up a bridge. They each succeeded in their missions, but failed to capture Nazi ringleader van Strassen, who had stolen all valuables from the people in the area. The Nazi was actually in the modern day museum, there to steal a fake statue which had been in that town, as that's where he had hidden the stolen gold. The Nazi was then knocked out from behind by none other than Sgt. Rock, who had recognized the Nazi when they sat next to each other on the plane to Gotham and had followed him to bring him to justice.
